A gastroenterologist is an “open access” physician, meaning you can make an appointment directly with us. You also have the right to choose our endoscopy center over a hospital out-patient surgical center.

So, if your primary care physician tells you it’s time for a GI procedure and offers to set up your appointment, remember to request the procedure be done in one of our dedicated Endoscopy Centers.

What To Expect

Being scheduled for a GI procedure can cause some apprehension or fear in some people. But rest assured, there is no need to worry. Our state-of-the-art facility is designed with our patients in mind. At GI Associates your comfort, well-being, and peace of mind are important to us.

When making your appointment, please make sure you let us know of any medications and herbal supplements you are currently taking. It is important that you inform us if you are on Coumadin, Plavix, Pradaxa or any other blood-thinning drug.

Prior to your appointment, it is important that you follow your preparation instructions very carefully. Remember, the best outcome of any procedure is dependent on a good prep. Make sure that you have someone come with you to your appointment. Your driver will need to be available to stay during the entire procedure, receive your post-procedure instructions, and see you safely home.

On the day of your appointment, bring your new patient forms with you. Dress comfortably and leave your jewelry and other valuables at home. Follow your discharge instructions carefully and plan to take it easy for the rest of the day. The anesthesia can have some side-effects for a short time after your discharge; please do not schedule any important “decision-making” situations.
