Learn how the program worksBowel control problems are more common than you think — and very treatable.
Fecal incontinence — the unintended leakage of gas or stool — affects millions of Americans, yet most people suffer in silence. It's not something most of us talk about with our doctor, and many assume nothing can be done. That's no longer true.
Today, there are safe, minimally invasive treatment options that have helped thousands of people reclaim their confidence and quality of life. The challenge has always been getting patients the right information and the right care at the right time.
That's exactly what this program — created by GI Associates in partnership with CaseSherpa — is designed to do. We find the patients who could benefit. We answer your questions. We walk you through every step.
GI Associates and CaseSherpa believe every patient deserves to know their options. This program was built so no one has to keep living with fecal incontinence simply because they didn't know help was available.
Your journey, step by step
Every step in this program is designed to be clear, comfortable, and at your pace. Here's exactly what to expect from start to finish.
A simple screening — you've already taken the first step.
If you've been reached out to by GI Associates or CaseSherpa, it means your care team identified that you may benefit from learning more about fecal incontinence treatment options. You'll be invited to answer a short, confidential screening questionnaire — just a few straightforward questions about your symptoms.
There's no pressure and no commitment. The questionnaire simply helps determine whether a free consultation would be valuable for you.
A free, no-obligation telehealth visit with a CaseSherpa Nurse Practitioner.
If your screening suggests you may be a candidate for treatment, you'll be scheduled for a complimentary telehealth visit with one of CaseSherpa's Nurse Practitioners — clinicians with years of specialized experience in fecal incontinence and the procedures used to treat it.
This visit happens from the comfort of your home. It's completely free, and there is absolutely no obligation to move forward with anything discussed.
We take the time to educate you — completely and honestly.
There's no rushing you toward a decision. Your Nurse Practitioner will walk you through what fecal incontinence is, why it happens, and what modern treatment looks like — including a minimally invasive diagnostic test procedure that gives your care team a much clearer picture of what's causing your symptoms.
You'll leave this visit understanding your options, what the process looks like, what recovery involves, and what outcomes look like for people in similar situations. Knowledge is the foundation of a confident decision.
Take your time — your CaseSherpa team is here when you're ready.
After your telehealth visit, the decision is entirely yours. CaseSherpa's clinical staff will follow up with you, answer any remaining questions, and gently support you through the process of deciding whether to proceed — at your own pace and on your own timeline.
If you're not ready, that's completely okay. We document everything for your GI provider and keep the door open for whenever you'd like to re-engage. There's no expiration date on learning more.
Ready to move forward? We handle everything from here.
If you decide you'd like to proceed with the diagnostic test procedure, CaseSherpa takes care of the scheduling coordination, benefits verification, and all pre-procedure preparation. Our clinical team keeps you informed at every step so you always know what's happening and what comes next.
A new kind of diagnostic test — minimally invasive and performed right here at GI Associates.
The procedure is called a Percutaneous Nerve Evaluation, or PNE. It's a brief, minimally invasive test performed in the procedure suite at GI Associates — no hospital stay required.
A trained CaseSherpa Nurse Practitioner — who specializes in this exact procedure — will be present for your procedure day. The test evaluates how your nerves respond, which helps determine whether a longer-term treatment would be effective for you. It's a smarter, more targeted diagnostic process that is currently underutilized in traditional GI care — and CaseSherpa is changing that.
After your procedure, we stay close.
CaseSherpa will follow up with you after your procedure with a telehealth visit to discuss how you're feeling, review your results, and talk through what the test showed. Your GI provider is kept fully informed throughout.
Whether your results point clearly toward a next step or require more discussion, you'll never be left wondering what to do. Our clinical staff provides continuous guidance and support — through every outcome.
For patients who want to go further: a permanent solution may be possible.
If your PNE results show a significant improvement in your symptoms — typically 50% or more — you may be a strong candidate for Sacral Neuromodulation (SNM), a small implantable device that provides long-term relief from fecal incontinence.
CaseSherpa will walk you through what this option looks like, answer every question, and connect you with the appropriate specialists to discuss whether a full implant is right for you. There is no pressure — only clear information and a team that genuinely wants the best outcome for you.
Everything you need — nothing left on your own.
CaseSherpa was built so patients have a real partner throughout the entire care process. Here's what that looks like in practice.

A Specialized, Innovative Diagnostic Process
CaseSherpa brings a structured, evidence-based approach to diagnosing fecal incontinence — one that gives your care team far more information than a standard visit, leading to better treatment decisions.
Care at Your Pace
There's no timeline pressure. CaseSherpa guides you at your own pace, with follow-ups and check-ins that ensure you feel informed and comfortable before taking any next step.
A Partner From Start to Finish
Most patients feel alone when navigating a health concern like this. CaseSherpa exists to change that — bringing clinical expertise, genuine compassion, and consistent support to every single patient.
You'll be guided by experienced clinical professionals — not a call center.
CaseSherpa was founded on a simple belief: patients with fecal incontinence deserve the same level of specialized, hands-on guidance that people with other chronic conditions receive.
Our Nurse Practitioners have spent years working with patients dealing with fecal incontinence and sacral neuromodulation therapy. They understand the emotional weight of this condition — and the profound difference the right treatment can make.
Beyond your NP, CaseSherpa's broader clinical staff is trained to support patients through every stage of the journey — answering questions, managing logistics, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks between your appointments.
When you enter this program, you are not a referral or a case number. You are a patient who deserves real answers and real support.
What you can always expect from us
This program is designed around you. Your comfort, your understanding, and your confidence in every decision you make are the priorities at every stage of this process.
