Infusion treatments are a type of therapeutic intervention for inflammatory diseases. Infusion therapy uses medications known as biologics to treat inflammation in GI and general patients. Inflammation is a symptom of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease, in addition to non-GI inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.
What Are Biologics?
Biologics are special proteins that have been genetically engineered from human genes. They are designed to inhibit specific triggers in the immune system that fuel inflammation. By desensitizing the immune response to these benign triggers, infusion therapy helps improve the overall quality of life for inflammatory disease patients.
